Think Seinfeld's girlfriend(s) of the week on his sitcom. Julian Morris is the male equivalent of that. Jonathan Groff might have gone down that road as an actor but he mostly didn't (his role in GLEE is closest to that casting type, but he was also an antagonist in that series, his role was not merely to be swooned over the female viewership). It's not a coincidence that Groff wasn't cast as the love interest in "Little Women", a role Morris played in the most recent TV adaptation, or the one night stand Reese Witherspoon had in her TV series. Groff doesn't have the luxury of slotting into those "swoon" roles, though I'm certain he's never wanted that. It's silly suggest that someone whose sole appeal is the swoon factor would suffer no consequences if they came out as homosexual. The world doesn't work like that.

Groff never stopped working. i have no doubts he lose some roles, but he never stopped working, and when he came out he was basically a theatre actor and on broadway being gay is not a factor (when you have the three first actors playing Evan Hansen are openly gay, and the substitute for Lin Manuel MIranda on the biggest hit on Broadway was openly gay too).

I don't think so. That happens when the actor uses his private life to promote the project, like Thimothée Chalamet is doing, for example. And that generally never address the sexual orientation of the actor (unless there's a coming out, generally associated to play a gay character)

There's a reason I signed the post with Jake Gylenhaal.... The point is that a gay actor's sexual orientation will be discussed if those involved are amenable, from the actor himself, to his reps, to the producers of his latest project. Hamilton wanted to show off his boyfriend but it's safe to say that he and/or his team don't want him to be ghettoized into "out" actorhood. In contrast, Gylenhaal started getting coverage about his latest girlfriend in the run up to the release of his superhero movie. The latter is a no brainer. It boosts Gylehaal's profile in the run up to his movie release.

Taking a look at the British acting pool, has Jonathan Bailey ever come out? He's made a handful of lowkey comments in the past but I'm not sure if its official. I've also taken an interest in Patrick Walshe Mcbride, who stars in a corny but entertaining PI crime show, Shakespeare and Hathaway. He also played Lord Ruthven in the recent Dracula miniseries.
